Answers:
10) How long has Dani's House of Pizza been in existence?
Our establishment was founded in 1959 and we are Kew Gardens' original pizza store. In July of
2009 we celebrated our 50th anniversary at the same location. Not many pizzerias can make such a
claim. In honor of this historic event, we rolled back the prices on that day and a slice of pizza and
a soda cost only 25 cents. That's right; 2 bits - a quarter. That was our way of giving back to the
community that has loyally supported us throughout the years.
9) To what do you attribute your longevity to?
Our longevity is attributable to our consistency, quality, and utmost commitment to the satisfaction
and happiness of our loyal customers. That and the fact that we have a great location.
8) What happened to the original owner?
It saddens us to say that the founder and original owner, Ramiz Dani, passed away in 2003.
However, store operations are now handled admirably and with pride and dignity by his beloved
son, Sabri Dani.
7) Which workers have been there the longest?
The daytime chef, Andre Cupi has been there the longest. He started there in 1963 and has been
there continuously since then. Click Here to read more about Andre.
The afternoon chef, the renowned Mr. Pena, has been at our establishment for over 15 years.
Finally, our over 15 year evening chef is the inimitable, the one and only Geraldo, affectionately
known as "Big G." Click Here for our Geraldo page. The place wouldn't be the same without him.
The problem is that we don't know if that's a good or bad thing.
6) I love your sweet pizza sauce. Do you use sweet tomatoes, sugar, or something else?
We're glad you asked that. The answer is (drum roll, please): It's a trade secret that we guard with
our lives.
5) Do you accept credit cards, and if so, what is the minimum credit card order?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, & American Express and the minimum credit card order is
$10.00.
4) Why can't you eat pizza in the dining room?
Due to the popularity of our restaurant, the dining room would be constantly filled if pizza were
served there, thereby creating an unreasonable wait time for our dinner patrons, who want to order
an entire Italian meal. Pizza eaters always sit at the counter and have a grand time talking to
Geraldo. We're sorry for any inconvenience.
3) Why don't you deliver?
Businesses only deliver out of necessity. Our establishment is constantly jam-packed and if we
offered outside delivery, it could interfere with the service and care we always give to our in-house
customers. Many of our customers are in the neighborhood and you can call for a pie in advance
and come pick it up. NEW! We have just started a trial delivery service during the summer months.
2) Why are the in-house slices bigger than the take-out slices?
Unlike most pizzerias that make the same size pie for eat in or take out, we have two sizes. The
take out pies are the industry standard 16 inches in diameter. That's the size that fits in a pizza box.
But as an added value bonus for our customers, the slices you eat in the pizzeria are from a
whopping 22 inch diameter pie. Those slices are as big as we are.
1) Why do you only have one size of fountain soda?
This is a good question. We asked the owner and he replied: "We only have one size of fountain
soda because it makes it easier to order stuff."
